FAQs

Q?

Will there be realistic derailments?

A.

Out content will collide with objects, however at this time the focus is on train simulation and perfecting that component of it.  Further detail into this area will be given consideration after our initial goals are met.

Q?

Do you need reskinners?

A.

No, not at this time.  Our team is primarily focused on getting the demo ready for the public.  At this time it's best to partner with a content creator or another 3rd party group looking for the services of reskinners.

Q?

Can I be a part of the CTS team?

A.

We're always looking for talent.  We are currently not accepting applications or looking to fill any spots at this time.  It's very possible you may get an email from one of us at CTS asking if you would like to help with development.  This is done on a case by case basis and will only come from a crosstiestudios email address.

Q?

Will editor tools be available in the demo?

A.

No, the demo will be pretty basic.  It's designed to show you some of the things we're working on and what the true potential of this engine is.  Once we begin retail production we will seek input on the setup and layout of the editing tools to make sure we can provide something easy for you to use.

Q?

Will there be MAC and Linux support?

A.

At this time the demo is being developed for the WIN64 platform.  Once we go into retail production we will discuss offerings for other operating systems.  Our developers are aware of this as they are writing code, something that will make the process easier when we reach that point.

Q?

Will there be a central place to get content?

A.

Yes, we will have an official spot where freeware as well as DLC will be available.  This area will be considered an official portal by Crosstie Studios.  As a result of this being an official area to get content it will be subjected to quality control checks prior to being approved and made available to our users.  You can still upload content anywhere you like, but anything hosted by us will need to meet minimum quality standards.

Q?

Can we import MSTS, ORS, TRAINZ, or other content?

A.

No.  We will not be providing support or tools to facilitate the importation of old content.  This is a brand new sim that should take advantage of new and current modeling techniques.  If you own the source files for older content or have  prior permission from the owner to import or use the content that's fine, we will not prodive support and assistance for old and dated content.

Q?

What platform is this being built on?

A.

This new simulation is currently being developed on the tested and stable Unreal 4 game engine.  This will allow us to deliver the most features and visual appeal in one package.

Q?

Are you looking for any help?

A.

Yes, currently we are looking for some volunteers who would like to begin to get familiar with the new platform and provide input in the following areas:

Multiplayer
Operations
Content
Third Party Developers

Q?

Why another train simulator?

A.

Well why not?  We don't currently know of any simulation platform that will offer everything we have planned.  This is the exact reason for a new simulator, we want to fill the void we currently have.

Q?

Will this simulator be just like the others?

A.

No, this simulator is totally different from the rest.  This is a ground up build of a new simulation platform custom built for the train simulation community.  This simulation will feature your requests and wishlist items.  This simulation is also proudly built right here in the United States of America.

Q?

When will the new simulator be ready?

A.

Right now we don't have a release date for retail release.  We are currently preparing a demo for the community to try before we scale up to full retail production.
